中英對照翻譯中
數(shù)字是經(jīng)常會出現(xiàn)的翻譯單位
也是很容易出錯的部分
很容易落入逐字翻譯的陷阱
今天重點是不確定數(shù)字的翻譯
表示“大約”
漢語在數(shù)詞前加“約”“約計”、“大約”、“大概”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“左右”、“上下”等詞表示。
相應(yīng)地，英語則在數(shù)詞前加 about, around，some，approximately，roughly，more or less，in the neighbourhood of等詞或詞組，或在數(shù)詞后加or so，or thereabout，in the rough等詞組表示。
例如：
about/around five o’clock
大約五點鐘/五點鐘左右
about/around/some/approximately/roughly/more or less/in the neighbourhood of twenty people
大約二十人/二十人左右
表示“少于”
漢語在數(shù)詞前加“少于”、“小于”、“低于”、“不到”、“不及”、“不足”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“以下”、“以內(nèi)”、“以里”等詞表示。
英語在數(shù)詞前加fewer than， less than，under，below，within等詞或詞組表示。
例如：
fewer than/less than/under/below/within one thousand yuan
少于一千元/不到一千元/一千元以下
表示“多于”
漢語在數(shù)詞前加“多于”、“大于”、 “高于”、 “超過”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“多”、“來”、“幾”、“余”、“以上”等詞表示。
英語在數(shù)詞前加more than ，over，above，upwards of等詞或詞組表示，或用在數(shù)詞后加and more，odd，and odd等詞或詞組表示。
例如：
more than/over/above/upwards of a hundred yuan
one hundred yuan and more/odd/and odd
一百多元/一百來元
表示“介于"
漢語用“到”、“至”等詞連接兩個數(shù)詞，或用“介于…之間”表示。
英語用from…to;between…and…表示。
例如：
from five to six days;
between five and six days
五至六天
表示“相鄰”
英語用or連接兩個相鄰數(shù)字來表示。注意“三三兩兩”是特殊的“相鄰”的數(shù)目。表示“兩個或兩個以上”等，英語在數(shù)詞后加or more表示。
例如：
two or three
兩三個
sixty or seventy
六七十
three thousand or four thousand
三四千
by twos and threes
三三兩兩
two or more
兩個或兩個以上
