"If some one loves a flower, of which just one single blossom grows in all the millions and millions of stars, it is enough to make him happy just to look at the stars. He can say to himself, 'Somewhere, my flower is there…' But if the sheep eats the flower, in one moment all his stars will be darkened… And you think that is not important!"
倘若一個人對一朵花情有獨鐘，而那花在浩瀚的星河中，是獨一無二的，那么，他只要仰望繁星點點，就心滿意足了。他會喃喃自語：“我的花就在星河的某個角落……”可是，這花一旦被羊吃掉了，一瞬間，所有星星都將隨之黯淡無光……那你也認(rèn)為這不重要嗎？
"You are beautiful, but you are empty," he went on." One could not die for you. To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked just like you-- the rose that belongs to me.
But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterflies);
because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose."

If we do not go through the world, we do not know what is our spiritual and emotional sustenance, but once we go through the world, we find that we can no longer go back to that wonderful place to go. When we begin to seek, we have lost, and we are not seeking, we cannot know what is so precious to us.
如果不去遍歷世界，我們就不知道什么是我們精神和情感的寄托，可我們一旦遍歷了世界，卻發(fā)現(xiàn)我們再也無法回到那美好的地方去了。當(dāng)我們開始尋找，我們就已經(jīng)失去，而假如不去尋找，我們根本無法知道自己身邊的一切是如此可貴。
"To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me.
To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world…"
“對我來說，你還只是一個小男孩，就像其他千萬個小男孩一樣。我不需要你。你也同樣用不著我。對你來說，我也不過是一只狐貍，和其他千萬只狐貍一樣。但是，如果你馴服了我，我們就互相不可缺少了。對我來說，你就是世界上唯一的了；我對你來說，也是世界上唯一的了。”
"My life is very monotonous," the fox said.
"I hunt chickens; men hunt me. All the chickens are just alike, and all the men are just alike. And, in consequence, I am a little bored.
But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life . I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow.
And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not ea t bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the colour of gold.
Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me bac k the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat…"
狐貍說：“我的生活很單調(diào)。我追逐雞，人追逐我。所有的雞都一個模樣。所有的人也是。所以，我感到有點無聊。但是，如果你馴養(yǎng)了我，我的生活將充滿陽光。我將辨別出一種與眾不同的腳步聲。別的腳步聲會讓我鉆入地下。而你的腳步聲卻會像音樂一樣，把我從洞穴里召喚出來。另外你瞧，看到那邊的麥田了么？我不吃面包，小麥對我來說毫無用處。麥田也不會讓我聯(lián)想到任何事。這是很可悲的！但是你長著金黃色頭發(fā)。當(dāng)你馴養(yǎng)我以后，這將是非常美妙的一件事！麥子的顏色也是金黃色的，它會讓我想起你。而且我也將喜歡聆聽風(fēng)兒吹過麥田的聲音……”
"It would have been better to come back at the same hour," said the fox.
"If, for example, you come at four o'clock in the afternoon, then at three o'clock I shall begin to be happy. I shall feel happier and happier as the hour advances. At four o'clock, I shall already be worrying and jumping about.
I shall show you how happy I am! But if you come at just any time, I shall never know at what hour my heart is to be ready to greet you… One must observe the proper rites…"
“最好還是在原來的那個時間來。”狐貍說道，“比如說，你下午四點鐘來， 那么從三點鐘起，我就開始感到幸福。時間越臨近，我就越感到幸福。到了四點鐘的時候，我就會坐立不安；我就會發(fā)現(xiàn)幸福的代價。但是，如果你隨便什么時候來，我就不知道在什么時候該準(zhǔn)備好我的心情……應(yīng)當(dāng)有一定的儀式。”
Judge oneself than to judge others more difficult. If you successfully trial right himself, then you are really a wise.
審判自己比審判別人難多了，如果你正確地審判了自己，那么你就是一個真正的智者了。
"What are you doing there?" he said to the tippler, whom he found settled down in silence before a collection of empty bottles and also a collection of full bottles.
“你在干什么？”小王子問酒鬼，這個酒鬼默默地坐在那里，面前有一堆酒瓶子，有的裝著酒，有的是空的。
"I am drinking," replied the tippler, with a lugubrious air.
"Why are you drinking?" demanded the little prince.
"So that I may forget," replied the tippler.
"Forget what?" inquired the little prince, who already was sorry for him.
小王子已經(jīng)有些可憐酒鬼。他問道：“忘卻什么呢？”
"Forget that I am ashamed," the tippler confessed, hanging his head.
"Ashamed of what?" insisted the little prince, who wanted to help him.
"Ashamed of drinking!" The tippler brought his speech to an end, and shut himself up in an impregnable silence.
