學(xué)英語最容易犯的錯(cuò)誤，
就是“望文生義”，
看到短語就簡(jiǎn)單地把，
單詞的意思疊加起來，
其實(shí)很多英語表達(dá)，
根本不能按字面意思理解。
01. break the bank
break有“打破”的意思，bank是“銀行”，
但break the bank不是“打垮銀行”；
實(shí)際上，它表示：破產(chǎn)，
傾家蕩產(chǎn)，耗盡資源。
也可以指：賭博中，贏下莊家所有賭資。
例句
For health systems in the developing world,
these are the diseases ，
that will truly break the bank.

02. break a leg
break有“打斷，折斷”的意思，
leg是“腿”，
難道break a leg是“打斷一條腿”的意思？
沒那么暴力，
其實(shí)它表示：祝你好運(yùn)。
break表示好運(yùn)的另一個(gè)表達(dá)是：
get a break表示：
時(shí)來運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)，走好運(yùn)。
例句
I was finally able to get a break.
I made a huge profit on my company.
我最終時(shí)來運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)，

03. break your neck
千萬別按字面理解為“打斷你的脖子”，
實(shí)際上，它表示：拼盡全力做某事。
例句

04. break the ice
字面理解是“打破冰”，
實(shí)際上，它表示：打破僵局；打破沉默。
例句

05. give me a break
break作名詞，有“休息”的意思，
但give me a break卻不是“讓我休息一下”；
實(shí)際上，它表示：繞了我吧（別再繼續(xù)了）。
也可以表示：再給我一次機(jī)會(huì)。
補(bǔ)充：如果想要表示“休息一下”，
可以說have a break，take a break.

06. break wind
break wind可不是“破風(fēng)”，
